Illuminated hand-held magnifiers are ideal for in-home uses such as looking up phone numbers, setting the thermostat, or reading the prescription on a medicine bottle, as they provide magnification and illumination for spotting tasks. Portability makes these magnifiers useful for spotting a price in the super market, reading a menu in a dimly lit restaurant, or looking at a map in the car. The new 1511 Mobilux series of illuminated hand-held magnifiers features LED illumination with many new benefits.

The SMD LED (light emitting diode) illumination provides an alternative light source preferred by many patients due to its distinctly whiter spectrum and longer useful life. In addition to the bulbs offering nearly unlimited life (50,000 hours), the batteries last 5 times as long as when used with incandescent bulbs. These features provide lower usage costs and make the magnifiers even easier to use. To soften the color of the light, small yellow filters are included which can be snapped-on over the LED bulbs to provide an illumination option.

The magnifiers feature high-quality, nearly distortion-free lenses with a Cera-tec coating that makes them nearly as hard as glass and protects them from scratches. The SMD LEDs provide optimum illumination, and with the optional yellow filter in place, a second, warmer white light is available. The step-up converter provides consistent illumination over time because the power supply of the LED is evenly regulated, ensuring an efficiency level of more than 80 percent. Moreover, this active miniature switching regulator helps to provide bright illumination, over 50 percent brighter than the competition.

The magnifiers offer 4x magnification and a 16D diopter with a 60mm lens diameter, along with a comfortable, ergonomic handle and a large, easy-to-operate ON/OFF switch. The battery compartment uses high-quality springs, making changing the batteries a snap, and the cover opens and closes easily. The SMD LEDs are completely enclosed to eliminate possible damage, and snap-on yellow filters allow users to choose between a bright white or soft yellow light. A complimentary protective case is also included, which protects the lens cover and the 2 AA batteries.
